I’m an artist working primarily in painting and drawing from my studio in rural Wiltshire, UK. I am fascinated by the relationship between language and images, and my current series, Sleep, is inspired by instances of sleep, insomnia, dreaming and nightmare in poems and other works of literature.
In 2020, I completed a series of 48 small paintings inspired by T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets poems. Readings of the poems, set against the backdrop of my paintings, can be heard and seen here. A book about the project will be published in 2021.
My work is regularly exhibited in galleries and open exhibitions across the the UK, and is included in private collections in the US, Australia, France and Britain.
I’m also the Director of 100 Moths, an art and conservation project which aims to raise awareness of the importance of moths in the UK.
Finally, I’m a published writer with an academic background in literature and the history of thought and ideas. My journalism, academic articles and book chapters have been published in the UK and abroad. I most enjoy writing about art, literature, and cultural history and The Carington Press is a reflection of this. If you would like me to write for you, please email me: email@example.com
